In the Italian chess scene, tournaments reserved for over 50s are totally absent and only Arco di Trento in October is played without double rounds. Cristina Rigo and I are trying to fill these two gaps in one fell swoop with the ACQUI TERME INTERNATIONAL OPEN that we will orcganize from 8 to 16 June 2024.
Meanwhile we also offer a good prize pool which is now, apart from some happy situations, a rare visitor to Italian tournaments.
This event aims to be included in the Italian and international calendar and alongside, when assigned, world, European or Italian championships as has happened in past years.
We are convinced that the Italian and foreign chess players who have followed us for years will appreciate our new organizational effort!!
